A City Built in Distinct Waves

The 1960s and 70s stock typically has a thin settled attic over an unsealed ceiling. The later subdivisions are tighter but were still built to a code minimum, which leaves plenty of air movement in place. We measure what is actually there rather than quoting by postcode.

Where the attic is continuous above the party wall, the separation that exists downstairs often does not exist up there at all, which is worth checking before anyone blows material across it.

Treating it properly means the garage ceiling, the kneewalls and the ceiling above, not whichever one is easiest to reach.
